The College Cup, which replaced the normal leagues in term 1, has been scrapped following the second national lockdown.
The YUSU College Sport Committee are considering the format for Term 2, although we aren't likely to find out until January.
Many clubs will be disappointed by the news having put good results together, however the competition hadn't yet made it through the group stages. Some teams such as Vanbrugh 1s were hit by positive Covid-19 tests and never even made it onto the pitch. The likely options are to repeat the cup format, or to return to the usual league format.
It remains to be seen if YUSU will stick to the 60-minute matches, with many players hoping for a return to the proper match length. Confusingly, pitch bookings of 2 hours weren't considered enough to host 90-minute matches, with all games kicking off 20 minutes into the booking and finishing half an hour or so before the next one.
Another change brought in for term 1 was the referees to be organised by YUSU rather than the clubs. Previously, teams risked points deductions for failing to provide a referee to their assigned games. For term 1, YUSU asked those interested to sign up directly, and they would provide referees to all fixtures. On multiple occasions however, teams ended up having to referee their own games.
